What happened
In Greenville, court records described by WCTI12 charge two people with cocaine trafficking linked to the Camelot Inn, and the county jail roster listed both in custody Wednesday morning.
According to that station's reading of the papers, Zhykeria Shante King, 28, of Winterville faces trafficking cocaine, marijuana possession with intent to sell, keeping a place for controlled substances, and possessing drug and marijuana paraphernalia. The trafficking count alleges more than 28 grams but less than 200 grams of cocaine; the place charge is tied to a motel room there; and King was held on a $60,000 secured bond.
A second WCTI12 file the same morning said Deshon Contrel Davis, 36, of Greenville was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 4, by deputies. Court papers listed there include cocaine trafficking in the same weight range, selling cocaine, a place-keeping count, a marijuana intent-to-sell count, and two paraphernalia counts. That file says a room at the inn was used to keep and sell controlled substances, that Davis was held without bond, and that he was due in court Thursday, Nov. 5.
Charges are accusations, not convictions. Being charged does not mean a person is guilty. Both defendants are presumed innocent unless they are proven guilty in court. We have not found a public statement from either person or from a lawyer for them.
The Detention Center's public detainee search on Wednesday morning listed KING, ZHYKERIA SHANTE, born Feb. 22, 1998, booking number 260313, and DAVIS, DESHON CONTREL, born Aug. 23, 1990, booking number 260311. Jail detail pages for charges did not load in that check, so the charge lists above remain attributed to the court records as reported by WCTI12. Those two reports do not say whether the defendants share a single case file or the same motel room.
