What happened

In Wake County, a child was taken to a hospital Friday morning after a possible drowning near Cary, according to the sheriff's office.

CBS 17, posted at 12:35 p.m. and citing that office, wrote that deputies got a report around 10:40 a.m. in the 6700 block of Good Hope Church Road and found the child in the water. The News & Observer, posted at 12:49 p.m. by Twumasi Duah-Mensah, independently used the same block, clock, and hospital line. Both pages said the inquiry was still open.

CBS 17 wrote that, as of early Friday afternoon, that office remained at the scene. The newspaper did not.

A caption on the newspaper's page said a child is in the hospital after drowning. The rest of that article, and the CBS 17 page, stay with "possible drowning."

WRAL, last changed at 12:36 p.m., is the only account that names Phillips Farms. That page said crews were sent just after 10:30 a.m., described a rescue, and wrote that Sky 5 later saw officials and an ambulance by a water play area. CBS 17 and the newspaper do not use those words.

WRAL also wrote that it had asked the farm what happened and what safety steps would follow. No answer from the farm is on that page.

None of the three pages names the child, gives an age, or says how the child got into the water. We have not found a written sheriff's notice we can read ourselves.

Triangle Local is not the sheriff. If anyone is in danger, call 911.

Why it matters

A child is in the hospital after a Friday-morning water emergency near Cary. Neighbors need the 6700-block line from two newsrooms, WRAL's separate farm and water-play wording, and that no official page we can read has named the child.
