What happened

In Raleigh, two people were shot at the Bison Bar on E. Whitaker Mill Road early Sunday, Nov. 1, WRAL reports, citing the city's department.

The station wrote that officers responded around 1 a.m., found two people with gunshot wounds, and that both were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. WRAL added that no suspects have been identified and that the inquiry is open.

CBS 17, citing a Raleigh Police Department news release, independently placed the call at that bar east of Five Points, near Wake Forest Road, around the same hour. That account said the wounds are not believed to be life-threatening, that there is no suspect information, and that the work continues. We are not printing the street number those pages used.

The News & Observer, citing CBS 17 for those police facts, wrote that the wounded people are expected to recover and that the department has not released their names or a motive.

On Facebook, the bar said it is fully cooperating with law enforcement. "The people involved may not have even come inside the building and appear to have come from up the street," that post said, as printed by CBS 17 and the Observer. The same statement said the business would close at 10 p.m. Sunday and that there will be wholesale changes to its operations.

A Saturday-night shooting in the 2200 block of Linville Ridge Drive is a separate case. That file is on this site. WRAL's Bison Bar article, as we read it Sunday evening, did not mention that block.

A later city bulletin we can read, on the department's GovDelivery account, times a shooting in the 800 block of E. Whitaker Mill Road at about 2:30 a.m. It says officers found an adult man and an adult woman, each with a gunshot wound. It does not name the bar. Raleighnc.gov news and safety addresses still returned 403 from this newsroom.
