CBS 17, citing court records, and WRAL's later Monday file both put Snead's bond at $250,000 after an earlier $65,000. WRAL alone says he was jailed again.

What happened

In Wake County, two Monday-afternoon files now put Xavier Snead's bond at $250,000 after Sunday's wreck near Wendell.

CBS 17, writing from court records, said a first appearance Monday raised a $65,000 secured figure to $250,000 secured and set the next trip for Nov. 23. WRAL's later rewrite of its own page independently printed $250,000 and said he had paid the lower amount, left, and then was jailed again. The station's morning rewrite had no bond line.

The third-party Wake County booking page we opened Sunday night, this morning, and again this afternoon still lists him as held on two felony vehicle counts from a State Highway Patrol arrest Nov. 1. Its stamp has not moved. The CBS 17 court summary omits a return to jail.

Who died

CBS 17, using the Highway Patrol's account, wrote that Adam King Lynch, 29, of Fayetteville, was driving a Ford Mustang struck shortly after 5:45 a.m. on Smithfield Road near Bissette Road. He died there, the file said. A woman in that Mustang was taken for treatment. The afternoon CBS 17 copy called her his wife and still did not name her.

WRAL's later Monday file independently named Adam Lynch, without King or the hometown.

What WRAL had Sunday

WRAL's first file placed two cars just south of Smithfield and Bissette roads around that same hour. A black vehicle crossed the center line and struck a red sedan, according to the patrol, that Sunday account said. The person at the wheel of the sedan died. A passenger from that car, and the person who had been driving the other vehicle, went to a hospital. WRAL said their later condition is not known.

The News & Observer, writing Sunday evening, cited that earlier WRAL file for the hour, the roads, the fatality, and the two hospital trips. Its 6:31 p.m. update still said the patrol had not released identities.

After that Observer stamp, WRAL named Snead, 20, and wrote that he faces felony death by vehicle and felony serious injury by vehicle. Charging documents, as the station summarized them, say he was driving while impaired. A charge is an accusation. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Troopers told WRAL the couple in that sedan were headed to the City of Oaks Marathon in Raleigh. A responding trooper, in that Sunday write-up, said the dead driver's mother was in a vehicle ahead of them.

What the Monday charge lists add

The same WRAL address now carries a later published stamp. That version says he had the black vehicle, a phrase the Sunday file did not use. It prints a 10-count list and, citing troopers, names suspected drug impairment and a lane-control failure as factors. It also uses Lynch, and a second last name we are not repeating because CBS 17 does not have it.

CBS 17's patrol file adds the Civic and Mustang, Four Oaks, the given name Contrel, and a death at the scene. Those same court papers say the Civic was rented by Snead's mother.

What we don't know yet

No agency-page write-up from the patrol. Which hospital. Whether he is still in jail. The two Monday files do not print one shared description of the cars.

Why it matters

A Sunday-morning wreck near Wendell left one person dead. Neighbors now have two newsrooms independently putting Monday's bond at $250,000, and they still need the split on whether Snead is back in jail.
